NC Vape Ban: What It Means for South Carolina
The ban has begun. As of July 1, NC is enforcing a sweeping ban on most flavored disposable vapes.

🧱 What Just Happened in NC?
North Carolina’s House Bill 900 took legal effect on May 1, with a 60‑day grace period. As a result, most non-FDA-approved disposable vapes were officially banned on July 1, 2025 (WRAL-News). Retailers must now only sell products included on the N.C. Department of Revenue directory. For example, brands like Elf Bar, Lost Mary, and Geek Bar are no longer legal to sell. Importantly, the law does not apply to THC/hemp vapes… However, only FDA-authorized or PMTA-submitted products remain allowed (Ashville Vapor).
📋 What Products Are Approved?
Only a narrow set of tobacco- or menthol-flavored, closed-system products have FDA marketing authorization, including:
- Vuse Solo, Vuse Vibe, Vuse Alto (R.J. Reynolds/BAT)
- Logic Pro, Logic Power (Japan Tobacco)
- NJOY Daily, NJOY Ace (Altria) (Skevape)
These are the only brands that can legally continue selling in NC under the new law—and they all come from Big Tobacco interests (Wispvape).
⏳ Where SC Stands Now
SC hasn’t passed this yet, but the same legislation is caught in limbo. Nevertheless, insiders confirm it was tabled until January 2026, with potential enactment as early as April 2026.
That gives SC vapers and shops a full year to prepare… Still, there is no guarantee it’s stopped.
